Friday?! April?! eek!

MAN, time just slips past, the projects pile up and craft fair season looms frightfully near!

Things are also coming together well for the soon to be offical announcement of the Indie Craft Documentary I am producing and directing. This may the the largest project I've started yet and we will see where it takes me.

Here are a few interesting things to check out if you are looking for a way to waste some time on the internet:

GUM BLONDS

New Paintings from Jason Kronenwald

Each Gum Blonde is 100% chewed bubblegum on a plywood backing. No Paint or dye is used. The colour is inherent to the gum-the mixing of the colour takes place inside the mouth during chewing using an endless variety of companies. Kronenwald has a dedicated team of chewers and prefers the texture of Trident. However, he does not chew gum himself unless he must

yeah, ALL chewed gum!! whoa!

Also, my friend from Barcelona Alicia takes beautiful photos with a lot of strange types of cameras... check out her photos HERE.

Have a good weekend.

the forward march

I spent all day getting ready for tomorrows new show at the Paper Boat. It really really looks great, all 53 of Sarah Neuburgers lil' clothespin peeps all line up around the shop. I wish I had the money to buy the entire collection to display in my home.....

We have already gotten many calls for the peeps, I wonder how quickly they will all sell and to which parts of the country they will go. If you want to check out the entire collection we have on display go HERE.

I worked a commerical shoot overnight last night, which has sorta thrown off my sleeping schedule. I was up until 9 a.m. this morning and then up at 3 to go into the shop. ack.

The other big news is that the Paper Boat will be expanding as of July 1st! We signed a lease for a new space 2 doors south from where we are currently located. More pictures and updates to come on that..... It really means more streaching room, display space and gallery room. Also, we can have opening parities for all of our rad shows comming up in the next year!!

Check out those clothespin peeps, they really are amazing. I snagged three, perks of being the owner, first pick!

Monday.

All weekend was spent thinking about what had to be done, doing bits of it here and there and spending more time wishing I could just paint. Its been a long time since I've spent time painting, it used to be all I did, then I started making felt owls and it took over my life. It also allows me to not have to work a day job, so I have to be careful not to complain too much.

I am working at utilizing my time to the fullest, things are going to start getting really nuts and spring unfolds. We will beging shooting for the documentary soon, a bizillion craft fairs are coming up all of which I will be shooting and selling at. 100% crazyness.

There is also big things in store at the shop but more on that soon to come.

Today the wind is blowing so strong I keep expecting to see something funny fly by the window, like a cat or someone on a surf board.

New Art vs. Craft site up & running!

After hosting the Art vs. Craft information off of my Flying Fish website for the last year and a half, my super web guy has whipped up a super new, all on its own, website for Art vs. Craft! Check it out HERE!

The application is up, there is a fourm section and it is cute a a button! I have to say I'm pleased as punch!

This afternoon I went to my first "kid" birthday party as an adult. My best friend Micaela's son Thurman turned 7 this week. I helped set up the craft table and it was super fun. I never hang out with kids and the 3 hours I was there was just about perfect! The Darth Vader pinata didn't stand a chance.....

Grey skys & coffee

Well, a bit of a late start today. Having my "morning" coffee at 10:30 am but that's okay since I'm my own boss (I like to remind myself sometimes).

There is nothing I hate more than applying for jobs and yesterday I bit the bullet and walked into Michaels gripping my filled out application ready to give it to the manager but first I had to stroll the isles to make sure I didn't need any supplies. I picked up some felt for owls and of course forgot to get pin backs cause I was distracted by all the easter decorations, most of which were total crap. There were these little tiny tiny fuzzy birds that I wanted but the new rule is no impulse shopping (eek!), so they stayed on the shelf looking at me with there mini eyes.

I proceeded to check out and asked the cashier to give my application to the manager. She said they wern't hiring and I stumbled around asking a few other questions and then just asked her to give it to them anyhow since it was all ready to go. lame.

Why was I applying for another job since I barely have time as it is? Well, working freelance is sorta making me insane, waiting on money and not knowing if I will have any income is starting to take it's toll. So, I was thinking 2-3 days somewhere would be a good buffer for grocery money or something. Really, I don't think it's going to happen but I have to go through the motions or else I am just wallowing in my broke-ass-ness!

Today involves lugging the sewing machine to the Boat to sew while I'm there, I have an order of 24 messenger owls that needs to be shipped a.s.a.p. they are for this lovely site that just picked up my line called elsewears.com.

Also I'm meeting with Mr. Tiber who is the genius behind all my websites.... the new Art vs. Craft site will be launching with applications in a few weeks. So far he has blown me away with his design work as usual and I'm super excited to get it all together!

One last exciting thing!! Last night I sent off for the postcards for the next show at the Boat, Sarah Neuburger's " The Forward March, The Little Small Clothespin People Brigade". I cannot wait to see all her little peeps on our walls!
If I was you I would check out her photo set of all her peeps to date on flickr HERE it is almost too much cuteness to deal with!
