The documentary got a shout out on the MAKE blog! Check it out HERE!
I also talked with a reporter from the NY Times Magazine about the craft community. He thinks the article may be published in July. I hope I didn't say anything dumb, I got nervous half way through thinking about the Times.... I know not to get too excited about stuff like that since I may not make the cut. Regardless, it's interesting that someone is taking note.
If you live in the Milwaukee area pick up this month's River West Currents and check out the new Arts section called the "Undercurrents" where we Art vs. Craft got a huge write up, well actually it's an interview with me....

fry day.
warm. warm. warm. finally-
Been listing to a lot of Pete Seger and Woody Guthrie. Always good. Always calming and empowering.
Tonight is the Fasten Clothing Co-oop Fashion Show at the old Onopa:
The Fortress building where my studio is located is full of all sorts of interesting people. My friend Drew is actually making a documentary about it. Yesterday one of the guys who works there stopped into the shop to check out the Keith Shore show and he gave me a disc with some work samples on it. This is my favorite painting of the week. It and another similar one will hang in the new shop until I or some smart person buys it-
Painting by Milwaukee artist Brian Dunn soon to be hung at the Paper Boat Gallery

The movie is a community project and we really need the support of everyone. You can help by spredding the word and also donating something you made to our etsy shop, there is information on how to support/donate on the new site as well.

Just finished hanging Keith Shore's show at the boat. I want it all, which is often the problem with everything in my shop. I did pick out one of the 11 x 14 framed pieces to take home with me after June. "South of Windy Hill" will be mine forever. You can't quite make it out in this picture ( not the best color either....) but there is a ghost lady in one of the mountains... that and the sharp teeth were the selling points for sure~~
I also got an email from Mike Broodie who is our next artist showing at the brand new space. Mike is a fabulous photographer who takes pictures of "the kids". This may not mean anything to you and they are not really "kids" but some of you will know what I'm talking about, or maybe not?? Mike aka the polaroid kid will be showing prints of polaroids selling for a measly $5 each- I have a feeling I will be hording a bunch of these guys. He also has a new site with photos from his nikon that are just dreamy as hell. I suggest checking out both of his sites HERE and HERE. Here is one of his pictures off the new site of Jessies shack, oddly enough I know Jessie from what seems like another time... living in New Orleans, living the good life..... so strange to find a picture of her luscious home via Mike who I found via fecalface.com the internet makes a small world bizarrely smaller.

I also came across this picture while clicking links looking for artists and do-good-ers. I love this great couch by Breanne Trammell
Have a good weekend peeps and if you are in Milwakee don't forget to go to both Jody Monroe Gallery and the Green Gallery this Saturday for all sorts of painting goodness by Nick Frank, Peter Barrickman and Ericks Johnson.

Time for Friday Fish Fry.
Working on a video for Since By Man. Doing set design and assistant directing- should be fun times. Sam & I went and took photos of the basement where we will be shooting a few days ago, it's going to be a tight squeeze and awfully warm- just like a real basement show I suppose. But a basement show wouldn't last 15 hours.....

Our DP will be Ross Riege who is a friend of ours we used to do production with here in Milwaukee who recently has relocated to Cali.
Been working on new items for Flying Fish, here is a photo of my new earrings that will be available on etsy and at the summer craft fairs. They are going to come in lots of colors.....

Ton's of new photos posted on my flickr account. Check them out if you have a minute- pretty random stuff.
The Indie Craft Documentary site is almost up and running, so close.... just waiting for our p.o. box from the dang city. For now if you are interested in reading more about our project go to our myspace page.

This week began with jury duty, or rather, the act of finding out if I was usuable material for a jury. It was very inconvienient but sorta interesting. Thankfully I didn't get selected and I went back to the grind of my daily lists.
Monday the notifications for Art vs. Craft were sent out, always a bit stressful to have to tell some applicants that they will not be able to participate. We ended up with about 110 vendors that will be showing at the one day event. They will be posted on the site in the next few weeks.
Now we wait for the peeps at Little Friends of Printmaking to deliver the handbill design. I can't wait to see what they come up with, last fall's design was amazing!
Otherwise just chugging along with prep for the Indie Craft Doc. which we will begin shooting at the end of May. Still finalizing what sort of camera we are using and all the tecnichal stuff that is fairly intimidating to me but I learning as I go. Our site is ready to be launched but we are just waiting for the P.O. Box number from the post office , then the sucker will go live. It looks better than I had imagined, Steve always does such great design work for my sites.
Just a reminder for those of you in the Southern California area....

Felt Club - is a monthly mini-craft fair featuring the best and brightest of the SoCal craft scene. Nearly two dozen crafters per month will show a wide variety of handmade goods, including handbags and jewelry, baby gifts and paper products, clothing and housewares, one-of-a-kind plushies and original artwork. The offerings may vary, but what our vendors have in common is quality, originality, and fun. Going down this weekend in our back parking lot from 11 am – 6 pm.

The deadline for the Detroit Urban Craft Fair is quickly approaching..... Don't be a procrastinator and do-it-to-it.
We are making the final decisions for Art vs. Craft in the next few days. It's always stressful. Over 100 applications to sift through.
Just finished watching the two part documentary about Bob Dylan directed by MARTIN SCORSESE. I really liked it and although my dad quoted me Dylan lyrics my entire childhood, I never knew the turmoil of his career. I suggest renting it if you haven't seen it yet.
Now it is time to sit down and do some serious sewing. June is weeks away which equals craft fair season madness. Lot's of new goodies though, which will be nice, I'm sick of just sewing owls..... although the owls will be there.
Although I will be at Renegade and ICE, I am not having my own table since we will be shooting for the Indie Craft Documentary. At Renegade in Brooklyn my work will be for sale at miss alison's table. Same goes for ICE, although I'm not sure who will be selling my goods yet.....
